Sanda: The Most Complete Combat Sport from China
Sanda, also known as Chinese kickboxing, is a dynamic full-contact combat sport that originated in China. Since its inception in 1924, it has evolved and has been officially recognized as the competitive form of the sport in China since 1991.
Although Sanda is very similar to kickboxing, it is distinguished by the addition of grappling and throwing techniques. This makes it a much more complete attack and defense system. A Sanda match involves not only punches and kicks, but also advanced techniques such as throwing and controlling the opponent.
There are specific competition rules, such as the ban on elbow and knee strikes, to ensure the safety of the fighters. Sanda has gained popularity worldwide, including the Netherlands, and is increasingly practiced by martial arts enthusiasts.
